The Afton 50K will be my last race. I'll probably finish close to last place.
I'm sick again and I've reached the point where I now have more bad days than good, so I can't do any consistent training and I have no expectation that things will improve.
For Pete's Sake - who is Pete?

I hope you'll reconsider eventually, after a much deserved break. For now, though, please take care of yourself and get better soon!
I second Colin's words.
I'm sorry to hear this, Steve! Taking care of yourself is most important and if the running is contributing to your sickness then yes, definitely step away. Maybe with no expectation of things improving they will still come around and get better just as part of the natural course of things. Hang in there, friend.
Have you gone to a doctor?
With most people I'd mean that rhetorically, but with you I am genuinely wondering if you've done that. You know, given your past with these things.
If you never run another step, I will still read your blog :)
Get well soon, and perhaps you can pull a Brett Favre...
Go Packers!
Whatever you do, please ignore Anonymous's advice and don't pull a Favre. We don't need to see pictures of your junk!
As hard to believe as this is, I am agreeing with Glaven on the advice to seek medical care, if not already accomplished.
You know us nurses - we are patient advocates (or as supposed to be per our training).
I am sitting here thinking of all the assessment questions I would be asking you if I could.
You may not race again, but I still expect you to blog ;->
Steve, I'm sorry that you're not feeling well. Please consider the advice of Glaven and wildknits and seek the opinion of a physician concerning your frequent illness. I'm looking forward to seeing you at Afton this July, and hopefully many more July's to come.
