Movies: Doctors with extra body parts

After the alphabetic film list, Rupert Pupkin had to go to a numbered movies list. There's way too many possibilities, so I limited myself to movie titles with doctors who have too many of some body part.

The Thousand Eyes of Dr. Mabuse (1960) **1/2

The other Mabuse films ("Dr. Mabuse, Der Spieler" and "Testament of Dr. Mabuse") are crime films that provide an important link between German expressionism and film noir. This is a much later film and not nearly as good, but it's still a watchable Fritz Lang picture.

If you want a multiple eye festival, you could watch this with "The 1000000 Eyes of Su-Muru" and "The Beast With 1000000 Eyes." It has to be noted, however, that Mabuse, Su-Muru and the Beast each have only two eyes!

The Seven Faces of Dr. Lao (1964) ***

Surprisingly good fantasy film starring, of all people, Tony Randall, in multiple roles.

The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T (1953) **1/2

The only non-animated Dr. Suess film, this is the nightmare of any child forced to take piano lessons against their will. The set designs are spectacular; the music is not.

The Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll (1960) **

In the Hammer House of Horror tradition, this takes a slightly different twist on the Stevenson classic by making the Hyde character more attractive than the Jekyll.

The Man with Two Brains (1983) ***

Steve Martin plays the title man, Dr. Hfuruhurr (I think I got that spelled right), a neurosurgeon who falls in love with a brain in a vat. Martin's early films tend to be too manic and hit-and-miss, his later films overly mannered; this hits the sweet spot in the middle.
