Mardi Gras, Olympic crushes and training update

I've lost two followers! Really guys, I'm not the over-competitive misogynistic whiner I pretend to be on this blog (I'm a slightly different kind of over-competitive whiner).

Today is Fat Tuesday and I'm eating a King Cake all by myself in celebration, for tomorrow I get serious about a lot of things, from diet (10 pounds overweight yet) to training. It's also day three of Chinese New Year's, where the traditional greeting translates to "Earn More Money Next Year!" [How's that communism thing going, comrade?]

One interesting thing in the Olympic coverage has been reporters following athletes after their competitions are over. They suddenly have all time and no worries and find themselves in a place filled with young attractive people, so the question being asked has been, "Who's your Olympic crush?" I'm glad I'm not the only one who follows an athlete without understanding their sport. I usually end up cheering for the Dutch women speedskaters, but this year an Irish bobsledder (or as they say, bobsleigher) has caught my eye; her parents gave her and her sister Siobhan the ultimate tonguetwister Gaelic names [for the uninitiated, Siobhan="Shavonne" and Aoife="Eefa"]

Aoife Hoey

I also kinda like Mukmuk, the unofficial mascot.

Training update will have to come later....

The speed skateboarding (or whatever the name is) was fun last night, with American coming first in the last turn. Never give up! Same goes for American LOOSING in nordic ski a couple of days ago. he had a huge lead and kept looking back over the shoulder. Winners do NOT look back! The french dude came up on him in the last 5 meters, literally.
As for figure skating, Russians lost pairs first time after 12 years! they were bad though, sadly...

I'm sure those two lost followers died and their family was nice enough to remove them from your list so that you wouldn't wonder why they never comment.

I just became a fan of Irish bobsledding. :)

And the word verification for this comment was "scones." Now I am hungry for food from the British Isles....
