The Ramones Workout

One of the things that's difficult to do is to increase one's stride rate. A lot of runners average 160 strides per minute, while a lot of top runners average 180 or more; part of this, of course, is that they're running faster. Something I discovered was that some punk bands had songs that were in the "right" range for beats per minute. I think the following songs go, in order, from 176 to 190 beats per minute (at least jogfm.com says so), so if you tried to match your stride rate to the songs, you should speed up.

I hate running with earbuds, but I tried it and it was fun. The slow intro to "You're Gonna..." is a bit jarring.

The former always-in-step-marching-band-nerd in me loves this post. I find if I listen to music when I run, it is nearly impossible for me to run at anything but the song's tempo.

@Karen: But do you run at 8 steps to 5 yards, like in marching band (yep, I was in one too)?
