Human Race Photos

I headed out to the Human Race 8K yesterday, hoping to find inspiration among those who could race.

It's not a race without Kirt Goetzke (right)

Jillian (you knew there'd be a young redhead...)

Joyce (another speedy redhead)

Chad Austin (in red, center)

These would be my competition, were I racing

Colin (tall guy in yellow)

Steve Stenzel (in purple and yellow)

Lundo - working hard in 2nd place
It was about here that I thought, instead of typical photos, why not photos of people as you might recognize them if they're faster than you? So... a series of butt shots:
Steve in a Speedo's butt

Colin's butt

Willie Tibbett's butt

Chad's butt

Lisa's (Wildknits) and Jean's butts
After the race, I found the last wooden road in St. Paul. You can't really tell it's wood except where it's in need of repair. I'm hoping the grain shows.

And something I found charming. Four houses on one block with rainbow flags.

I'm sure your blog will light up now with people searching for "Colin's butt". :)

I saw you wandering around near the start; hadn't realized that you'd seen me too. Sorry we didn't connect; another time!

8k sounds like the perfect distance. For me, I mean. I have never seen an 8k advertised around my parts, but a few 5 milers. Which I guess is the same thing, essentially.

Of course, the best 5-miler - the three bridges 5 miler - didn't happen last year. It was the best because it was run by a volunteer fire company and so afterward there was free beer.

I hope they bring that one back this year.

Butt shots are too funny! I'm always staring at people's calves - and then later, when I look in the mirror, I see dirt all over my face and in my teeth. I guess that's what happens when you're the caboose :)

LOL! Sweet, my butt is on a blog! :)

Fun photos, Steve! It was great to see you out there!

Ha, ha, butt photos. I usually stare at people's shoulders, but those pics wouldn't be as funny.
What's up with the wooden roads?

SteveQ said...

@Diana: Thank goodness someone finally asked about the wood road! Before there were proper quarries and craftsmen for making stone pavers, when there was a need for roads that were more than dirt, they made pavers out of wood. That makes that road date between 1850 and 1870 and has never been upgraded!

Ha! If anyone were to ask me what's a highlight of the Human Race - got my butt shot on Steve's blog. ; )

If a guy named Butt posts a comment saying you have a pic of his willie on your blog, I'm outta here.
