I felt good for 44 minutes

I started trying to run before recovering from my cold, so I've had some ugly runs, but I've started feeling a little better. Each day just a bit faster that the previous day.

Yesterday, it rained and all the tree pollen and grass pollen was scrubbed from the air. The humidity felt good to my ravaged lungs. Though I had to blow my nose twice during the run, I was feeling better than I had for quite some time. I was running easily and yet faster that usual, about 8 1/2 min/mile. I started thinking about all the comments from people saying I wasn't going to quit racing, that I'd take some time off and then come back again, as I have so many times. Maybe, just maybe...

Then my heels hurt. I've been complaining about breathing problems for so long even I was forgetting how last year I was given the medical ultimatum: stop running or have multiple surgeries and take a chance on being able to run in the future.

It was nice while it lasted, all 44 minutes.

Well, 44 minutes of feeling good is 44 minutes of feeling good! Better than only 10, or say 15 minutes ...
