Yesterday was a pleasant dry day and my allergies weren't a problem (I think it's mold, which is why it's always in humid weather I suffer), so I went out for a serious training run. I threw out all the ideas borrowed from other people and just did what I felt I needed to do.
With a little speedwork thrown in, I managed 8 miles under an hour and added another 3 for a cool-down. Nothing special, no lung-searing sprints or quad-busting hills, just a decent run at a decent pace. And it felt good.
I'd scrapped most of my plans and treated myself like I'd treat someone I was coaching for a change; that's always been my problem - I as an athlete think I know better than I as a coach know [four tries and the grammar still seems off there]. "Train to do better what you already can do," is one of the linchpins of my advice to runners, but one I rarely follow. So, instead of punishing my body in a reckless charge at breaking 3 hours in a marathon again, I ran what I should do as a 3:15 marathoner and, for at least one day, everything clicked.
Then I mowed the lawn for an hour, because it's going to be humid and stormy again in the blink of an eye.
And so it is Christmas!

Cool! I hope it is that dry on the day of Voyageur, oh, and our hill run day.
For what it's worth, I agreed with your grammar.
I didn't think for one second that your comment on my blog was mean, just funny. Now I fear I might not have understood the mean part.
Glad you had a good workout!
The grass is like hay hereabouts. We'll need a week of rain before it comes back. Haven't mowed the lawn in weeks.
Yay!! A good run!
Sorry, I got nothing other than common comment drivel. My life sucks a bit right now. I am glad you finally had a run that did not suck ass or injure you in some way, though.
I know that sentence is wrong... don't care enough to fix it....
