Junk TV, not Junk Miles

First, let me see if I get this right: the 16 year-old girl, Abby, who was trying to sail around the world is my step-brother's cousin, but not my cousin. So risking life and limb for no good reason is not necessarily genetic.

This week, I ended up watching a lot of TV I can't believe I watched. My cousins (and NOT my step-brother's cousins) were on "The Family Feud." I thought that show went off the air when Richard Dawson died, but apparently there've been a lot of hosts since then - I think the order goes: Dawson, Richard Karn, Spike Lee, Justin Bieber, John O'Hurley (don't quote me on that). Once I spotted someone I recognized and then realized I'd never met the others, I went for a run.

I watched "America's Got Talent." There was a guy named Doogie who was trying to do stand-up comedy in front of the worst crowd I've ever seen. I've done stand-up. This made my stomach clench. I had nightmares. That's why I write jokes for others now and that's why I ended up watching the dreadful "Last Comic Standing." I know some of those guys and I have to see if anything I wrote makes it on the air.

If you watched the last episode (and why would you?) you actually got to see that most elusive of creatures - someone Steve dated exactly once [speaking of myself in the third person somehow makes it hurt less]. Looks like she pulled herself together, or at least wasn't drunk during the audition for once. She would do anything to be on television; she was on MTV's "Road Rules: Australia" in the last millenium. There's footage of her on the internet, trying different types of feminine hygiene products while driving through a car wash.

Class act, all the way, that one.

And I didn't even know her with the bad red hair dye:

I've been writing my training schedule for the fall marathon. It's taking forever and I'm only up to August, so it's slowly dawning on me that I have a long, long time to prepare. I think I scheduled an easy day somewhere in July.

I was horrified about that girl sailing around the world before she even left.

I can't believe the parents wanted her to do this.

And.....

Great new show on Spike TV. "1000 ways to die".

Best show on TV

I think THEEEE worst part of us keeping our patients hostage for at least 5 days in the hospital is the horrendous TV they get to watch at 2am when they can't sleep because really, who gets sleep in a unit when the monitors are going off all the time and every conceivable machine decides to go alarming as soon as it somehow detects that a patient is about to enter the restorative deep phase of their sleep?

@RBR: I haven't led an interesting life (unusual, perhaps); if you didn't notice, I spent my time watching TV.
