Leslie (PiccolaPineCone) is a 2:54 marathoner who asked me to help coach her toward the Montreal Marathon today. She hit the half-way mark at 1:27 and change and finished in 3:08:14, taking fourth place (first and second were a Kenyan ringer and an Ethiopian ringer), so now she runs like her coach! [Correction (Sep. 7): turns out she was 6th. Not sure how the early results missed two women.]
Given that she's nursing her daughter (la Cocotte... no website as yet) and just moved from Italy to Canada in the past two weeks, I'd say that's still a win.
When she gets her report posted, stop by and congratulate her.

The Superior Sawtooth 100 is this week and the hardest section is the Crosby-Manitou gorge climbs. How hard is it? Well, I'd say it's ridiculous, but then I saw this video taken at that very park, which is charming in a goofy way (really, it's harder than this!):
While it is tempting to blame you for PPC's time, the first thing that came to my mind was also the very recent move across 7 time zones. Although, it is really hard to say something is "wrong" when one can run a 3:08 marathon!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great video. And congrats to your pupil -- that is a fantastic finish!
ReplyDeleteHmmm. I just realized it is only 6 time zones. So we can't blame that anymore :).
ReplyDeleteMy apologies for erasing your comment on my blog. I realized that in order to get rid of penultimate on people's blog lists I had to repost it, thus erasing our comments. But why did I think that penultimate was like ultimate, where it had an original meaning and then a newer meaning. Well, I looked it up and you're right. I just couldn't jinx it and risk that that would be my second that last Danish marathon!
Too fast for me to even comment on, so now, about me...
ReplyDeleteI believe there was a Fried Food on a Stick fest in a bit North of North, or where ever the hell you are.
Get writing! Some of your "currently being starved and tortured by Jenny Craig", readers are waiting!
Sheesh. *mutters* Writing about 3:08 marathons on a running blog when there are fried food pictures to post. Selfish!
RBR: Sorry to say, the gorgefest didn't happen. It was cold, I was sick with allergies, my camera won't download the photos (except to Facebook, but that's another story) of elk meatballs, chocolate-covered deep-fried potatoes, falafel and beer... all on sticks.
ReplyDeletefavorite section by far!
