We must be the only people who remember the Jesse James Bolero!SteveQhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16943650844671498074noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2796785757974247915.post-15871011048372677152014-01-15T16:18:43.080-06:002014-01-15T16:18:43.080-06:00I loved seeing the Housemartins and Shriekback on ...I loved seeing the Housemartins and Shriekback on there. Great albums, but not that important to me.

My 10 are also nearly all ancient, befitting the fact that I first heard them when I was discovering that music could be so much more than the Eagles, REO Speedwagon and Led Zeppelin that were omnipresent at the time-

Velvet Underground & Nico - The Velvet Underground (1967). Arguably the most important record ever. I didn't hear it until 80 or 81, but this is my Nevermind.

Roxy Music - For Your Pleasure (1973). Who am I kidding? This whole list is probably just the entire Roxy Music catalog.

Big Star - Third (recorded in 1974 but not released until 1978)The ultimate root of my power pop addiction. Plus a cover of Femme Fatale from the most important album ever.

David Bowie - Heroes (1977). David Bowie, Brian Eno, and Robert Fripp.

XTC - Drums and Wires (1979) Or Black Sea, or English Settlement, or Skylarking, or....

Robyn Hitchcock - Black Snake Diamond Roll (1981)I didn't hear this until late 1983, but when I did....

Aztec Camera - High Land, Hard Rain (1983) Not my favorite Postcard band, but this was the soundtrack to my freshman year in college.

Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense (1984). In 1982 I saw this performed at Northrop Auditorium. My first concert.

The Replacements - Let It Be (1984). I was at the University of Minnesota when this was released. I'm pretty sure it was on the syllabus.

The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin (1999). Almost of this century. Who says I'm old?

Rosshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09955990241412217784noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2796785757974247915.post-85236237024486235052014-01-14T19:05:24.835-06:002014-01-14T19:05:24.835-06:00Memories!
